I thought I'd put up a FAQ for those of you who are generally new to battling and also for general information.
Q. What does it mean to "battle" someone?
A. Battling is a way for designers to test out their skills against another designers via digital art. It's a fun way to socialize with others and up your Photoshop skills.
Standard Battle-Basically you and one or more people follow a set of guidelines on the piece you'll be making. You each display your finished piece and have it voted on my the other members.
Tennis Match-A tennis match usually is between two people or a team of two people on each side. The way it work is someone submits his piece as the first round, the challenger then in turn works off of his predecesor's piece having to leave one feature of the original piece intact. The battle consists of this style for a set number of rounds.
Worm [Mural]-The worm is the last of the standard battle styles. This type of battle can consist of anywhere from two people to say a whole message board [ ]. The way it works is the first person makes their piece, the next person in line or the single challenger then must make a piece that blends with the last piece made. It can be set off of a style or every image can be random.
Q. What are the rules used when battling?
A. The "rules" or guidelines a challenger sets when he issues a battle are usually as follows:
Style-This is the type of image you'll be making. It could be grunge, abstract, photo manipluation, etc. Size-The size states how big you must make your image. Program-Here you state if you want to limit your battle to use of certain programs. Stock Photos-State whether you want the use of stock photos or not. Renders-Same as Stock Photos. Votes-Specifies how many votes must be made by members until a winner is crowned. Due Date-The date you want the battle to end, and voting begin. Comments-For general information about the battle.
Those are the general guidelines used, more/less may be used.
Q. How do you win a battle?
A. Once the participants in the battle have finished their pieces, a vote given by the members happens. Usually a set amount of votes is issued by the challenger and the first person to reach that amount wins the battle...and bragging rights.
This FAQ is just to inform/help people make battling on this board easier and more smooth to do. If you feel something should be added to this FAQ, please feel free to PM myself.
